Nigel French is the former director of the Graphic & Interactive Design Program at UC Berkeley Extension. He is a partner in 7 Reasons Design, a graphic design firm based in San Francisco (www.7reasonsdesign.com) and co-editor of the online journal Big Ugly Review (www.biguglyreview.com). He teaches at UC Berkeley Extension and the Art Institute of California-San Francisco. Over the last ten years he has taught InDesign, Typography, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Dreamweaver, Flash, and many graphic design-related courses.

He is the author of the PageMaker 6.5 for Windows Bible (1997, IDG Books) and InDesign Type: Professional Typography with Adobe InDesign CS2 (2006, Adobe Press). He is now based in London, consulting for IPC Media, Europe's biggest magazine publisher, on their migration from QuarkXPress to InDesign.
